Getting to the hotel can be a little confusing, though you can get a ride up for a couple of yen. Once there, I found it a great place to stay. There’s an onsen room for bathing, storage for your skis after renting them, and a restaurant with really good food. My room had a TV, shower, bathtub, and fold-out beds.

The staff were very friendly, and the hot water was just right for easing sore muscles after a hike. The bath itself is pretty basic, and the food was good. I’d give this comfortable mountain inn a 4-plus if I could. If you’re planning a big hike or eat a lot, you’ll probably want extra dishes or an upgrade from the basic meal. Some items, like beef, need to be ordered ahead. Apparently it’s also a great place for stargazing.
