The location worked well for me, near the station, a supermarket, and some really good places to eat. The rooms are roomy and reasonably clean, though the fourth-floor corridor gets hot in summer since it isn't air-conditioned. Checkout is completely unmanned. When I left at 7 AM, I couldn't leave my bags at the front desk and had to use a station locker. If you plan to explore town after checkout with lots of luggage, keep that in mind. Akechi's station locker is the cheaper option.

The front desk staff were really kind. When my companion left their key in the room at night and the auto-lock shut us out, they came to help quickly. We stayed one night starting November 22, 2025. The room felt less cramped than rooms at major hotel chains, and they had installed a washlet toilet despite what some earlier reviews said. I can personally live with the age showing in various places.

For a business trip with just one night there, the worn chairs and other fixtures were still acceptable. The bathroom area was clean and felt safe to use, which reassured me after seeing the retro exterior, lobby, and corridors. The front desk staff spoke casually instead of sticking to the usual hotel script, and that personal, relaxed manner was a relief. There's a microwave in the hallway, and both the station and a supermarket about two minutes away make the location handy. If you're particular about shampoo, bring your own.
