The breakfast was a highlight, especially the mild-tasting rice made with ingredients from Awaji Island. The owner also suggested the seaweed in the miso soup, so we picked up something similar at a roadside station on the way home. We came across the inn while looking at places to stay on Awaji Island. My wife immediately felt this was the one, and we booked it. We were the only guests that day, and the owners welcomed us warmly. They even turned on the stove to warm the bathroom before we used it. The rooms and interior were lovely, with a quiet, slightly nostalgic feel that made it easy to unwind. For dinner, we went to a local izakaya the owner recommended. Once we mentioned where we were staying, the staff told us some interesting stories, including the history of Umekiya. We had a great time there. The stay made me appreciate Awaji Island even more. It felt like an inn with real ties to the local community, and I’d definitely stay here again if I return.
