Kaigetsukan

The room package included a beef set meal, and they asked what time we wanted to eat. Everything was laid out in the dining room at the chosen time, a massive banquet with more food still coming. The beef was a bit tough compared with other restaurants we'd tried, especially the shabu beef, which could be better. Grilled beef was okay. They served different beef cuts, including tongues and tendon, so keep that in mind if you don't eat those parts. Luckily I could pass them to my friend. The menu also had non-beef choices like chicken and sashimi, giving a good mix. Breakfast buffet was included too, with a good range. We arrived 45 minutes before it closed, and a lot of food was nearly gone, but there was still enough Japanese and Western food, from rice, sausage, eggs, and seafood to yogurt, cereal, fruit, and desserts. The beach and sea view from our breakfast table was lovely. The hotel has an onsen with a large bath you can enjoy more than once. The outdoor bath doesn't have much of a view, but the surroundings change when the men's and women's baths switch between day and night. You can get drinks and ice pops on the ground level afterward. Our room was enormous, a tatami room with a balcony, sitting room, living room, vanity room, toilet, shower room, entrance, gallery, and bedroom. It's the biggest room we've had in Japan so far, and the whole family could stay comfortably. The hotel is right in front of the beach for beach activities. Staff took us around and explained where things were before leading us to the room. Check-in is at 3pm, but they held our luggage while we went for lunch and walked around. On returning, we checked in quickly enough despite the crowd. A greeter at the entrance confirms your name and room number so you can go straight to the counter, a nice touch. It's only a short 5-10 min walk from the Sumoto bus Center. Check-out felt early, around 10-10:30am. The staff don't speak much English but are helpful. We left our luggage again while shopping, and after we collected it and started down the street, a counter staff member caught up with us and offered a free ride to the bus center. That really helped with our bags, and we appreciated the service. Drinks and ice pops after a bath were a nice option, too.
