The spa was clean and hot, with an outside rotenburo and a great view of Ena lake. If you get the timing right, early risers can have it to themselves in the morning. The buffet had plenty to eat and drink at both dinner and breakfast, and my kids loved it. The food service was great, and the staff were friendly and quick to respond. We had a very enjoyable stay.

The hotel is quiet and pleasant, with plenty of space. It was nice to get the kids out of the crowded city. The Showa era furnishings and carpet were a plus for me. Staff were warm and friendly, and the onsen and room were good. There was a silly, fun bingo event with prizes. It gave us a laugh and a chance to talk with other guests. There’s lots to eat at the buffet, though the quality isn’t the best, it’s more than good enough for the price. It’s good with kids, too. If you like Showa, it’s worth a visit.

The only downside was the onsen setup: there’s no cold water spa or sauna, just the hot water spa and an outdoor hot water spa. We stayed 3 nights. Our first room was on the 1st floor of the West Wing, where part of the gorge view was blocked. We asked for a higher floor and moved to the 4th floor of the same wing for the next 2 nights. The view from there was beautiful. Staff at reception, in the dining room, and at Karaoke were friendly and helpful.

For JPN$8100/night per person, the room and food were nice. There was a smoky smell outside the room, though. I guess it may be because the smoking and non-smoking zones are separated. It would be better for staying if that weren’t the case.

This was our second stay at Yukai Enakyo, and the great service, views, and hiking trails will bring us back again.
