The sea view from the comfortable room was lovely, and the onsen was a nice way to unwind. We had filling meals, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It’s a great place to relax after a long day cycling, and I’d definitely come back.

We had great views on a clear day, and the beach was decent for this part of the Inland Sea. How much trash washes up seems to depend on storms and tides, especially outside the short official summer season. I was camping at a party, so I didn’t go into the hotel, though I heard it was nice. The beach bar was great.

The location is small, so it was convenient having the baths and restaurant close by, and the ocean view is great. But with just one elevator, getting around takes a while. The room has been renovated, though it’s dusty and the unusual wall color feels unsettling. There’s no freezer in the refrigerator, the TV is small, wind noise comes through the windows, and there’s no air purifier. You also have to go to the kitchen to get slippers. The fourth-floor bathroom has a 6-by-4-meter tub and a sauna. It isn’t a hot spring, though the water is cloudy for some reason. The changing area is cramped, with nowhere to rest, even though the view is good. Dinner was tasty, but the choices were limited and there was no soup. The pot-cooked rice was mushy and unappealing, probably from too much water. Breakfast was even more limited: pickles, cob, miso, and nori. It was the sparsest hotel breakfast I’ve had, and the first time I’d had such a non-bulb breakfast. Drinks were limited to one menu item, and there was only one cup of coffee. I was surprised the milk came in a Chichiyasu carton, lol. There’s nothing nearby or much to do inside the hotel. Since it’s really a summer resort for swimming and barbecues, I think staying in winter when swimming isn’t possible would make more sense at a cheaper rate. It doesn’t feel like good value. I also don’t think a three-star hotel should make guests set up their own futon.
