The staff were very friendly, and I'd definitely like to stay at this inn again. The meal was superb, from tempura and duck sukiyaki to horse sashimi. Even foods I usually don't care for tasted delicious thanks to the chef, and the rice from Yamanashi Prefecture was excellent too. It was a healthy menu, but the portions were so big I could barely move for a while afterward. Unless you have a huge appetite, I'd look at the dish photos before choosing a course.

It's been 36 years since I last visited Isawa. I went out around 8 PM, and the hot spring town seemed to have lost its old energy over time. Still, the inn made the trip work out well, and I'd love to visit again someday. The place felt like a proper traditional Japanese inn, with a wonderfully preserved Showa-era atmosphere and rare old-fashioned charm inside. It brought back so much nostalgia! Dinner was a small set meal, but there was plenty of it, which made me happy. The proprietress, manager, and all the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming.

I was especially impressed by how delicious the food was. There was a satisfying variety of dishes with local flavors, and the attentive hospitality made the stay very pleasant. The bath water was excellent, enough to please even hot spring lovers. It's a charming retro building, while the single available room has been renovated into a modern, comfortable space with thoughtful amenities. I highly recommend this inn.

I came here in early September after going to Katsunuma to buy grapes. We'd originally planned a day trip, but decided to stay overnight in Isawa Onsen, and I found this place while looking for somewhere relatively inexpensive. It's a small inn in an old building, which I think explains the price. Even so, it's well maintained, with no particular issues, and has a cozy, relaxing Showa-era feel. The duck-focused meal was generous. There was enough duck sukiyaki for two, and both the flavor and portion left me very satisfied. The hot spring was alkaline and known for its skin-beautifying properties. There was a wine bath too, but I don't really like unusual baths, so I skipped it. This probably isn't the place for people who want a big hotel or fancy inn, or for young people looking to have a lively time in their room. But if an older building doesn't bother you and you want to relax, I think it's good value.
