Business Hotel AMS

I was here while sightseeing around Mount Fuji. The room was clean, and there were plenty of amenities. Even though the Shinkansen runs nearby, the noise didn’t bother me. It was more than good enough for a business hotel, and I’d stay again if I get the chance.

A room-only stay is around 5,000 yen. The hotel feels a bit old, from the facilities to its current state. It sits right by the Shinkansen, and things get hot when a train passes. The amenities are average, the windows let in cold drafts, and the air conditioning feels a bit overpowering. I rented one of their bicycles. They advertise the hotel as the closest to Shin-Fuji Station, though I’m not sure that’s actually true. Staff were very helpful, and they let me park my motorcycle in a garage or something at the back. One thing to watch for is that there don’t seem to be any convenience stores nearby. The old-fashioned brochures, like you see at older inns, add some charm.

It’s a good, affordable business hotel, and they have manga in the lobby. My only complaint was the Wi-Fi: it needs authentication and the connection kept coming and going. My cell phone was faster. Then in the morning I saw someone had punched my car door. Just be careful. That’s what you get with the poor customer base at cheap hotels...

I stayed here on a business trip. The hotel itself was very nice, there were no particular issues, and the receptionist was very polite. The real problem was the kettle in my room. There was already water in it, which suggested a previous guest had used it, and that made me feel very uncomfortable. Only smoking rooms were available, so I booked one. As a non-smoker, I found the smell too much. Cigarette odor got into my clothes and hair, so I think non-smokers should avoid smoking rooms.
