The owners were welcoming, and even though their English wasn’t fluent, they made an effort to communicate with Google Translate. They also picked us up from Kawaguchiko Station and took us back after checkout, which made handling our luggage much easier. We accidentally booked for 3 people but arrived with 4. We offered to pay the extra guest fee, but they wouldn’t accept it and gave us another futon free. That kindness really stayed with us. The cottage is clean and comfortable, with a heater, cookware, sandals, futons, plates, cups, and most things you might need. There’s a little garden in the backyard and a drink vending machine by the building, handy at night. You can see Mount Fuji from the bedroom window, especially beautifully in the morning. Free bicycles are provided, small enough for children but comfortable for adults too, and useful for exploring the area at an easy pace. Oishi Park is about a 15-minute bike ride away, and Maple Tunnel is just a 3-minute walk, especially pretty in autumn. I had a much better stay than I expected. Cottage Pastorale is a quiet, comfortable place in Kawaguchiko, and I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a Mount Fuji view and kind hosts.

The hosts were lovely and welcomed us outside the house, and check-in was flexible and accommodating. Parking right beside the house was easy. The lake was only a few minutes away, and from there we could enjoy a beautiful sunset or sunshine on Mont Fuji. The location worked really well for this trip, and the staff were great.

The location made a big difference for us: Mt. Fuji was visible from our room, and Lake Kawaguchiko was only a 2-minute walk away. We could also borrow bicycles to explore nearby at our own pace. The room was spotless and had all the kitchen equipment we needed to cook, which made the stay easy and comfortable. When we arrived, staff even offered to drive us to the supermarket for groceries. We had a wonderful stay at Cottage Pastorale Hotel and are already looking forward to coming back.

The staff were good, and the cottage itself was okay. Sitting outside in the evening was difficult, though. Even with a mesh door, we couldn't open the glass one because so many insects were gathering on it from the wheat field right outside.

The garden at the back was lovely, and there was plenty of parking. The view of Mt Fuji was nearly perfect, except that a house partly blocked it. Staff were very friendly, and I appreciated that there weren't hidden rules or restrictions like at many other places I've stayed in Kawaguchiko. My only small concern was the layout: just one bedroom is private, while the other also serves as the hallway to it.
