The owner's ride to the bus stop saved us a 15-minute walk with our luggage, and he was very nice. The location is a bit far from the sightseeing spots, so plan around the bus schedule. There aren't many food options nearby, so we ate breakfast and dinner at Guesthouse Sakuya, and both were delicious. We had a traditional room and, over two lovely days, could see Mount Fuji right from it. The traditional onsen was a great place to relax after walking around the area. We had a very good stay.

The views are incredible, and the vegan breakfast was really tasty. We felt welcome as soon as we arrived, and using the onsen was no problem at all. It's tattoo safe. If you're coming without a car, I'd suggest taking a taxi. It's a long walk from the city center and can be hard to reach on foot. I'd recommend it 100%.

Mr. And Mrs. Sakuya put a lot of care into helping you have a good stay. They suggested things based on what I wanted to do, and every recommendation worked out better than the local guide books I picked up. Their breakfast and dinner were delicious and a great price compared with some places in town. The home is beautiful, the rooms are quiet and have great amenities, and the bathhouse is peaceful and rejuvenating. I can't recommend Guesthouse Sakuya enough. It's a chance to get away from the congested areas, unwind, and enjoy the beauty of Mt. Fuji and Fujikawaguchiko.

The female owner was extremely unfriendly. From our first meeting, we felt unwelcome. My wife said hello, but the female staff member just walked away. On the second day, my wife was unwell, so I asked if we could extend our stay. The owner said the place was fully booked, even though the website still showed vacancies.

Guesthouse Sakuya was a real highlight of our first trip to Japan. My daughter and I spent three nights there after busy Tokyo, and it was a perfect change of pace. It's simple, clean, and tidy, which is part of its charm. She loved our Japanese-style room, and the home-cooked food was delicious. The onsen was fabulous. We were able to use it privately, though they explained that this isn't always possible because members of the public can apply to use it too. The owners were incredibly helpful. We hadn't hired a car, so after the tourist information office called for us, he picked us up with our luggage from a sightseeing bus stop. On checkout morning, they checked for taxis but none were available, so he drove us to Kawaguchiko station for a small charge, leaving at 6:30 so we could catch our bus. He seemed to understand which museums and other places we might enjoy, and he was right. On our last night, he also sat and chatted with an American couple to help them find places they'd like in the area. His wife explained everything clearly at check-in, and there are English signs around the guesthouse. They are clearly hardworking hoteliers.
