Villas Fuji

The area is peaceful, and it's only a short drive to most places in town. Our rooms were clean and roomy enough for our family of five. I'll miss waking up to breakfast with a view of Mt Fuji.

We had breakfast in the morning looking out at a stunning Mt Fuji, and the view from the outdoor patio, living room, and little bathroom window was the villa's best feature. The place was spacious and tidy, with everything needed to cook. It sleeps up to eight, with three bedrooms, two single beds in each, and two extra futons. There were lots of English information cards around the house, and check-in and check-out on the tablet were straightforward. A couple of things could be better. The hot water controls were confusing, with too many consoles, and it took a while to work out how to use them. We arrived at night to find no public lights nearby and a dark outdoor area, which felt potentially unsafe when we didn't know the area. We later found an outside sensor light, but it had to be switched on at the main switch. It would be good to leave it on for nighttime arrivals. Communication with the host was terrible. I think the villas are managed by a property management company or something similar. They sent several automatic emails about the door code and check-in number, but never answered when I asked a few questions about services through the booking app.

The host met us when we arrived, explained how to use the BBQ, and went over the safety measures. The kitchen had enough equipment for us to make a nice dinner, and there was a large dining table. The rooms were quite good, with plugs near the beds, and Fuji-Q highland is conveniently close. The first day was cloudy and we couldn't see much, but the next morning Mt. Fuji appeared perfectly, with an amazing view. The mattresses were quite hard, and that would have been painful for me, though it may be fine for some people. I used an air mattress on top. Using the terrace and BBQ also meant dealing with bugs, so keep that in mind if bugs bother you. We cooked outside and went back in to eat.

Breakfast or dinner with Fujisan in view was the highlight for us. Villas Fuji was spacious, with a sofa in the living area, a dining area, and a full wet kitchen with a microwave and toaster. All three rooms were roomy enough for six people. Check-in was contactless, though the mountain view was the part that really made the stay. You can also use the BBQ Pit on the second-floor balcony for an unobstructed view of Fujisan. It costs an extra 4,000 yen, and meat delivery from Yakiniku Himawari Tei is separate. We highly recommend that restaurant too.
