Hotel Route - Inn Kawaguchiko

I was there for one night in late March, and my room had a great view of Mt. Fuji. Being right by the water was nice as well. The staff went out of their way to help make the stay a good one. Their van service to Kawaguchiko Station was useful, too, as it saved an almost 30 minute walk.

Be careful about choosing a room on floor 2 that doesn't face the lake, or you may end up looking at a cement wall. Room 204 faced the wall, was smaller than the others, and was next to the elevator. I'm unhappy with Wingbuddy for not checking that we were treated equally.

This was a welcome pause from Tokyo's crowds. We stayed from 22-23 March, and had a spacious room with Mt Fuji peeking over the hillside outside the window. The staff were very accommodating, and breakfast and a shuttle bus were provided. There isn't a convenience store nearby, though, so anyone needing groceries late at night should be ready for a long walk. That's down to the location, of course, not the hotel.

The staff were very friendly, unlike what an earlier review had led me to expect. I loved the breakfast style, which I think Asian guests will enjoy. I booked a Mountain View room, thinking the lower price was because it didn't face the lake, but it was also quite a bit smaller than the lake view rooms, with no chairs or table. After shopping at OGino until 8 pm, we found there were no more buses and walked 40 minutes back. Check Google Maps early to see when the last bus to your hotel leaves.
