Habitacion NIIYA Mt Fuji

After hiking, we came back each night to a hot bath that was ready for us. The guesthouse is traditional, with one shared bathtub and restroom for the building, which is normal enough. It’s tucked away from the touristy part of town beside a pretty little park with a great mountain view. The couple who run it are so sweet, and even drove us to the station for our bus to Tokyo. I’d highly recommend it as an alternative to the mega hotels. It feels like your money goes straight to a family rather than a big business.

The owner even drove us to the station on our last day, and the staff were incredibly kind throughout. We could see Mount Fuji from our room window, and the room itself was cozy, in a traditional Japanese style. Towels and other necessities were provided. We absolutely loved the location and had such a good experience.

The hosts were so friendly and helpful, they even dropped us at the station at the end. They also let us use their two bicycles, which we rode around the lake and to our favorite spots. Biking to breakfast by the lake with a view of Mt Fuji, then seeing the autumn leaves festival, was the highlight of our trip. The rooms are traditional, with tatami mats and futons. The lake is a minute away and restaurants are nearby, so the location is great. If you’re after a traditional stay in Kawaguchiko, this place made our visit better than we’d hoped.
