Kakureyado Fujikawaguchiko

Our campervan stay was completely complaint-free, and this was our favourite place to stay on the whole Japan trip. Taka was so kind. On arrival, he even drove us to a lovely spot where Mount Fuji was perfectly visible for photos. Snacks and drinks were available for free whenever we wanted, and the breakfast he made was delicious. Chureito Pagoda took about 30 minutes to reach on a regular bike, mostly downhill. You can rent bikes here, but it’s cash only.

The samurai space at Takos house was lovely, and we’d absolutely stay again. We enjoyed the hot breakfast and the beautiful setting, and Tako kindly drove us to and from the bus station. It’s an easy walk into town, and we had a great scenic ride on the e-bikes. Tako also spoiled our daughter with snacks!

The owner was kind and helpful, and breakfast was delicious and nicely prepared. Our family room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and really spacious. We also enjoyed the onsen-style bath and massage chair, which made it easy to relax. We had a great time and would love to return.

The inn is well outside the city, so it may suit people hoping to cycle around in nature. For old-town streets, architecture, and museums, I’d suggest the Hakone area instead. I also think Mt.Fuji can be seen better in Hakone. I stayed in the camper, where the sleeping bag was smelly, cold, uncomfortable, and hadn’t been cleaned. The owner's dog was surrounded by feces, which smelled and brought flies, and was tethered with a heavy metal leash. It didn’t look cared for, and I felt sorry for it. The walls had obscene pictures and posters of women, which I found tasteless. During our conversation, the owner casually touched my head, which offended me. He insisted on cash rather than credit card payment.
