Wafu Guesthouse Kashiwaya - Hostel

The old Japanese house has a nice atmosphere, the staff were polite, and the location is good. You may get a view of Fuji when the weather cooperates, though we didn't. But the noise was hard to deal with: someone's stomping woke us around 5 a.m., and construction started at 7. The breakfast included was only bread. Sound carries through the floor so much that everyone can hear you use the toilet, and you can hear them too.

We had comfortable, roomy rooms, and the toilets and shower rooms were clean. The hosts were kind and even looked after our bags while we climbed Mt Fuji. It's only a short walk from kawaguchiko station. Breakfast was complimentary, just toast and jam, and Japanese drip coffee and tea were available for free anytime. The place felt homely, and I'd gladly recommend it to people visiting kawaguchiko.

The futon was so comfortable, and everything was clean and well looked after. This is a warm traditional guest house close to the station, with a very reasonable price. The host was lovely, and the free simple breakfast was a nice surprise for the price. We were here for the Fuji Marathon, and even after checkout the staff let us shower and relax for a while in the cozy lounge. Highly recommended, I'd stay again.

Coming from hectic Tokyo, this is a lovely spot to slow down. It's comfortable, clean, and very well maintained, and we slept really well. The owner, Ikea, has such warm mom energy. She even tried to help us contact Buddhist temples so we could learn meditation, but unfortunately they were booked out. You can also pre-order Japanese fondue from her in-house for dinner, for around 1320 yen. It was cozy and delicious. Quiet nostalgic jazz played in the background, and the place made me feel like I was in Japan in the 1920s. I fell in love with the place, the nature, and the Japanese people who live here.
