The restaurant, Cokky, serves tasty meals at affordable prices, and Choushi waterfall is just a five-minute walk away. It looks stunning in winter. We picked a Japanese-style room with tatami and futons; just note there’s no shower in those rooms, so you’ll need to use the onsen. There are around ten pools, including an outdoor one, with views over the valley and waterfalls. We were looking for somewhere between the Gono Line and Hanawa Line, and Hotel Yutoria Fujisato worked perfectly, even though it’s a 20-minute drive from JR Futatsui station. The staff kindly drove us to and from the hotel.

The hot spring facilities are great for relaxing, with a jacuzzi, sauna, foot bath, and more. Staff are friendly, and the place feels cozy. My room was huge, with four beds even though I was traveling alone. The restaurant is simple, but the meals are colorful and full of flavor.

I can’t say whether it was just my room, but it had a toilet and no shower. To shower, you have to use the shared area in the onsen.

A quiet little find for a day trip to the hot spring, and it wasn’t crowded. The chlorine smell did concern me a bit. JAF members get 100 yen off, which makes it a great deal.
