Fujiyoshida Youth Hostel

I stayed here in February 2005 before setting out to climb Mt Fuji on my own. The owner was worried about my safety. I made it home safe, and I’m grateful for the hospitality and concern. The accommodations were excellent.

Set back on a quiet side street, the hotel is peaceful but still only a few minutes' walk from the small town center and train station. The Japanese-style design is lovely, and the facilities were all impeccable. Our double room had everything we needed, including very comfortable futons and clean, cozy sheets. The owner greeted us so warmly and took great care of us throughout. It was the best traditional hotel we’ve stayed in, maybe the best of any kind. If you’re lucky enough to book it, go for it. Thank you for such a wonderful experience 😊

We slept really well on the comfortable Japanese-style beds. Our beautiful, very clean room also had a view of Mt. Fuji, and the owner was kind and helpful. We loved our stay ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🗻

The owner is the main reason to stay here. She’s always smiling, tries to communicate in English, and was wonderful to us. As long as you’re quiet, it’s fine to come back late, then head out for another little adventure in the morning. That suited us perfectly. The building is well kept and clean, the machines worked, and our tatami room was cozy with soft beds. It’s in a calm spot away from tourist crowds, but Fujiyoshida is lovely to explore on foot. There’s a local bakery on the next street for breakfast, and you can visit the neighborhood on your way to Chureito pagoda. It’s about 20 minutes from Fuji station, with a closer station nearby that connects to FujiQ highland station and Fujikawaguchiko station. Thanks again, grandma’s the best!
