We paid in yen only, booked online, and there was no parking. The room was a great deal for the price, especially since we were out most of the day and didn’t need anything fancy. It was huge, with a bathroom and sink, a TV, tea maker and tea, comfortable beds, and hangers for clothes. I wasn’t sure whether a morning shower was allowed since bath hours were listed as 5-10pm. The next day I finally ran into the manager and got the okay.

The building is old, but it has a nice retro charm, and it’s cheap. It’s a bit away from the city center, with a good choice of restaurants and bars nearby. Many people stay around Hakata Station or Tenjin, where the recent rise in tourists has made rooms hard to find, but getting a room here is relatively easy. A few rooms are also offered online for just 100 yen, with the same contents as the regular-price rooms. Check the website for details.

Students on field trips often stay here, and the accommodation isn’t very expensive.

The room was comfortable and easy to settle into, and the reception staff were very helpful. A really nice inn.
