I expected more for the price at Hotel Dukes, Hakata (Fukuoka). The rooms were tiny, with hardly any room to move, and there’s no drinking water provided for guests, which was a real inconvenience. There was also a strong, unpleasant odor in both the lobby and the rooms. The property and amenities look outdated, and the hotel’s cleanliness and upkeep fell short. Unless they renovate and improve the service, I wouldn’t recommend Hotel Dukes. Maybe it’s time for an update.

Being one block from Hakata station was the only good part for me. The room was very dated, the bathroom needs a complete remodel, and the AC smelled.

The crew were really friendly and helpful, and you shouldn’t have trouble with people in Japan. Breakfast is served, and you choose it at check-in. The hotel has an old-fashioned feel and is musty, but being so near Hakata Station made that less of an issue for me.

The hotel is pretty aged, but it’s well maintained, and I love the location. Their shower gel, shampoo and conditioner smell so good I can’t believe they’re complimentary. They sell the products in the lobby too, probably because people want to buy them ❤️

A small room, but it has what you need, and the complimentary breakfast is good. Staff are nice, and the JR station is very close by. The only unpleasant part was a fishy smell in the room.
