I stayed one night in a Standard Double Room. The Japanese breakfast was delicious and homely, and the hotel is super close to Hakata station. At check-in they collected an accommodation tax of ¥200 per person. The hotel facilities feel pretty old. The room was clean and compact, but the bed and pillows were both too firm for me. The room, bathroom, elevator, and hallway were all so tiny and narrow it felt depressing. The soundproofing was awful; even from the fifth floor I could clearly hear people talking in the street.

The room was okay, the location was the best part, and the staff were friendly and spoke good English.
It was okay.
The location is good.
The area is the big plus, with Gion and Hakata Station nearby and restaurants, ramen places, bars, shops and parking all around. Four of us were in town for an event at the FFB Building in Gion. The hotel itself is an older Showa-era building, but the shower pressure was good and it had the basics covered, including a washlet, towels, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner and body soap. Our Friday night with breakfast was ¥8,500. You choose Japanese or Western at check-in. For a weekday stay, I found myself comparing it with Toyoko Inn and Smile. The room had its own air conditioning and the overall quality just about met the bar. One small thing, breakfast could really use at least a cup of hot coffee. Fukuoka Prefecture is also one of the first to impose that mysterious accommodation tax!
