Hakata Yufuin Takeo Onsen Manyo no Yu

I visited on the evening of 8 Mar 2019 and came back on the morning of 10 March, around 0830a.m. The first visit impressed me for the ganbanyoku, food and drinks, onsen, ambience, place to rest, airport proximity, and hospitality. Their FREE shuttle buses to and from Remain, Hakata etc. save a lot of time and money. The second visit was a very different experience. An old, light-complexioned woman at the front desk was rude and arrogant. She saw us hauling several bags and heard us ask for help storing them, but made us wait for no apparent reason when there were no other customers. Her English was very limited, and she didn't explain that ganbanyoku only started at 1100a.m. It left us confused and frustrated. That front desk staff member really spoiled the experience.

This was my first onsen visit as a foreigner, and I had a wonderful time at Manyo No Yu Onsen. I only came for the day, and it didn't disappoint. I do wish there were more English translations, especially for the history information. I'm still a beginner Nihonggo learner, and having to keep opening Google Translate was a hassle. Guests with tattoos aren't allowed. There are plenty of facilities, including a restaurant, manga and karaoke entertainment areas, and even a sleeping room. Definitely worth trying.

Handy if you're waiting for a flight, since it's close to the airport. There are lots of people sleeping nearby, so you can relax without feeling alone.

We only stayed one night and wished we'd booked two. The staff were great and helpful, even though they couldn't speak English. At the restaurant, every dish was delicious, carefully cooked with fresh ingredients. There are six clean onsen pools, and the sauna could fit ten people. When I went, there were only three of us. Each shower cubicle has a seat, so you can take your time scrubbing and washing your feet. It felt like a proper treat. Shampoo, body wash, face wash and mask, toothbrush and toothpaste, and a comb are provided, so you don't need to bring anything. If you like onsen and sauna, this is a great place to leave the stresses of the world outside. Change into the provided Yukata and everyone is dressed alike, so there's no worrying about who looks better in their clothes. Thanks for a wonderful experience.
