The hotel is right across from Hakata Station, which is hard to beat. My room was small, but it was cheap and very clean. There weren’t enough sockets for all the things I needed to charge. The staff let me leave my suitcase both before check-in and after checkout, and also let me use some glue I needed, a small thing I appreciated. One slight downside: even though I gave them a Japanese address, they still asked for my residence card.

Nothing to complain about with the amenities, and the hotel is pretty standard for a budget Japanese business hotel. The annoying part is the physical room key: they ask you to leave it at the front desk every time you go out.

It’s clean and nice, with everything you need in a small room. The compact setup works well for a short stay of a night or two, especially if you’re traveling light.

There are plenty of food options, the connections are great, and the staff are friendly. Compared with a station in the UK, this one is amazing; next to other Japanese stations like Shin-Osaka, it’s simply very good.

The service was great and the room was clean, though both the building and the room definitely show their age.
