Room 703 is only a stone's throw from the train tracks. The double sliding doors help, but the noise runs from around 6am until late at night, so light sleepers should avoid this place. The entrance door's arm mechanism was leaking oil badly, making the whole room smell. There were spider webs, but luckily no mosquitoes. The air conditioning worked well, and there's a small fridge and one induction cooktop, though the room didn't make me feel like cooking. The bathroom was clean and didn't smell, but it was very old. The shower walls were bubbling out under the paint. Water pressure kept dropping low and then coming back strong every few minutes, and it was hard to get a warm shower because the water was either too cold or too hot. There was no one at the front desk until sometime after the 4pm check-in time. Yakuin Station is a short walk away, with a grocery store and a 7/11 near Exit 2, I think. For more food variety, try Hankyu department store basement floor B1 at Hakata Station. Compared with Osaka, Fukuoka was very underwhelming to me, and the buildings are very dense. I can imagine this being acceptable if you're used to camping in the wild or staying in hostels, but it needs more attention to details to be more livable. I won't come back.

The apartments are spacious, clean, and well maintained. They're much better soundproofed and roomier than a business hotel, and in fact better than my home. The Wi-Fi is fast, the location is super convenient, and the staff were kind. I liked the cool view too. The cost and what you get feel perfectly balanced, perhaps because it was converted from an apartment building and is cheap to build and operate.

The room was fine for me, and the hotel is near downtown. It's about a 30-minute walk from Hakata station. The nearby metro line makes it noisy during the day, though it quiets down at night.

The rates are cheap.
