Hotel Grandolce HAKATA

Right by the river, so the view is lovely. The location is central and convenient, with plenty to do around the hotel, especially at Christmas time. The service was exceptional. I’d definitely stay again next time.

Fukuoka felt like the most vibrant city on our trip. From an outsider’s perspective, people were more talkative, communication felt more candid, and humor came through more. At night there was a slight “Vegas meets Japan” vibe, with ads for some of the more adult clubs. It was our last stop after Tokyo, Kamakura, Mishima, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Hiroshima. The hotel is in a great spot, a short walk from the train station and even closer to the lively river area and evening activities. Our room was comfortable and spacious enough, with a very nice view of the canal and nearby park. Staff answered questions before we arrived, advised us on getting to the airport, and called us a cab. I don’t really have complaints. As a foreigner, I did find the English a bit limited in a few calls about changing nights before we arrived, but it’s unrealistic to expect everyone everywhere to speak your language.

The staff were so kind when I lost my watch. They helped get it sent back to me, which I really appreciated. I’ve stayed here twice and was happy both times. The hotel is comfortable, and the rooftop is a lovely spot to look out over the city.

We’re already planning to come back, this time with an executive twin room so we can unwind in the tub and use the massage chair after each day. Our deluxe twin had plenty of space for two, and the beds were comfortable. The staff were warm and helpful, even when we checked in late. With Tenjin and Tenjin-minami stations nearby and loads of good local places to eat within walking distance, our three days were packed with walking and sightseeing. It turned into one of our best adventures.
