On my first business trip stay here, the hotel felt old-fashioned and a bit dated. Some walls seemed thin, and I noticed cigarette butt marks. It had the basic necessities. One odd thing bothered me, though: the TV switched itself on while the remote was out of reach.

The futon was nice, but the air-conditioning noise was quite annoying. I stayed here for a marathon, and the place has a Showa-era feel. It didn't seem especially clean.

I came away regretting this stay. I thought breakfast and parking were free, but I was bitten by over 100 ticks and had a terrible time. I wish I'd chosen another hotel, even if it was a little farther away and cost extra.

The front desk team were really friendly and helpful, and I liked the restaurant too. The downside was the room's bathroom and toilet: perhaps because this is an older hotel, both were tiny. For someone as large as me, the space felt like too much of a squeeze.

There aren't many bars around, so that's worth knowing. The room was a typical regional business hotel, and I wouldn't call it clean. There was a strange clothes-drying pole in the room, though the place might suit a longer work trip. The older woman at reception added a nice touch. If you usually drive, you'll know how unusual it is to find a hotel west of the Yumesaki River in Himeji.
