& Hotel Hakata

The breakfast downstairs was generous, though it got repetitive. The hotel is well placed in Fukuoka, within walking distance of Hakata’s main train station, and the staff were polite and helpful. The room had decent furnishings but was small, and I found it too hot with no way to adjust the temperature. Even with that, I’d consider staying here again.

The room was about the usual size for Japan, and the location made getting around convenient. What really made our stay was the kind, helpful staff. When we couldn’t get our luggage lock to work, they helped us sort it out. Five stars for them, and thank you!

Being able to leave our luggage at the hotel between stays during our trip made everything much easier. We also really liked the quiet, safe neighborhood and had a great stay overall. Still, on the first night my sister spotted a blood stain beneath the toilet cover. It was unpleasant and suggested the cleaning hadn’t been checked carefully. We didn’t report it then because it was late, but it should have been caught. I’d stay here again in Fukuoka, though I hope management pays closer attention to cleaning. A visible stain like that shouldn’t be missed.

We had a really good three-night stay. The area around the hotel was quiet, with a convenience store two minutes away. Gion Station, Kushida Shrine, and Canal City were all nearby, with the station about a five-minute walk. Reception staff spoke fluent English and were always happy to help. The room was small, as is common in Japan, but had the essentials, including a hair dryer and electric kettle. There was also a microwave and laundry in the shared area. They replaced our towels every day, which I appreciated, and you could pick up free amenities in the lobby or borrow pajamas. I’d recommend it.
