SUPER HOTEL Towada

The staff were attentive in small ways that made a difference. When we mentioned taking the stairs because the elevator was slow, a staff member noticed our gesture and pointed us toward the staircase. They also helped us call a taxi for our next day trip, since the taxi hotline only took Japanese calls. Their English was limited, but a translation app worked fine, and they were genuinely helpful. We paid about ¥22,600 for two nights, which seemed fair for the comfort, service, and breakfast. Towada relies more on buses than trains. The hotel isn't right by the bus station, but it's among the closer, more convenient choices, and there are plenty of shops and convenience stores nearby for late-night snacks. I liked the evening welcome drinks, served until about 8pm-8:30pm. After a cold day out, the whisky hit the spot. Breakfast was unexpectedly good, too. Guests come down from the lift into the lobby, pick up a prepared tray, then choose their dishes. It felt simple and efficient, almost like an army setup, but oddly comforting. There were Japanese items such as natto, which my partner enjoyed. As breakfast was ending, the chef came around personally to thank everyone, which felt sincere. Near the lobby, there's a shelf where you can choose a pillow. Shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, and toothpaste were in the room, with other basic items available to pick up in the lobby. I liked that setup as a way to reduce waste. We usually bring our own toothbrushes, and returning the unused toothbrush package earned us a small snack, a thoughtful eco-friendly touch. The room was comfortable and clean, and it even had a nice sunrise view from the window.

For one night in Towada, this was a good budget choice. The staff were kind, the breakfast was delicious, and the pajamas were comfortable. I liked the pillow shelf in the lobby too, a neat idea.

The front desk women were kind, helpful, and hardworking, and that good service is the reason I wanted to like this place. Still, I wouldn't stay again unless I had no other choice. Getting there was difficult. It's not near a station, and on the driving route I used there was no signal. The room had no trash can. It came with one long pillow for the double bed, meant for two people, which limited how we could sleep. It was also the hardest, most uncomfortable pillow I've ever tried. I don't know if every room has that pillow, but I can't understand the choice. You can ask for another downstairs, but the supply is very small, and none were left when I asked. I ended up sleeping without it and using some of my clothes instead. Parking is free unless you arrive late enough to be sent to the third lot, a five-minute walk away. They gave me a card that was supposed to make the exit free, but it didn't work and I had to pay. On weekdays breakfast ends at 8:30, which feels early. The dining area isn't big enough for everyone, so they offer takeout boxes to bring breakfast to your room. At exactly 8:30, they made everyone still eating leave. The hotel may have potential, but my stay wasn't a good one.

Only $32 for the night when I booked online with Google. Clean, nicely designed, and I slept well. The TV was a decent size and the Wi-Fi was fast. Good value. I'd pick Super Hotel over APA Hotel and would come back.
