The manager was a huge help when our rental car got a flat tire. The rental company had it towed to a nearby gas station for a replacement, and the manager helped us communicate with them and even drove us there for free. We really appreciated it. The room was clean and comfortable, and the onsen was lovely. My skin felt silky after bathing. The food was very tasty as well, and for the comfort and service, it was great value. I highly recommend the hotel.

For the area, the location feels a bit like nowhere. There’s no scenery, it’s not really on the way to anywhere, and apart from a convenience store there isn’t much nearby. Still, if you’re in the area, you could do a lot worse. Hotel Pony Onsen falls somewhere between an onsen resort and a business hotel. At around 6800 yen with two meals, it was probably the cheapest full-service onsen hotel I’ve stayed in. The food was solid, the room and facilities were fine, and the baths were much nicer than I expected.

Pretty basic, but I liked lying on the flat surface with the wooden headrests. The rocks along the wall add a nice touch. There are two open tubs, one with jets. It was 410 yen.

I booked this place while attending the Aomori Nebuta festival, and it’s about an hour’s drive from Aomori. The rooms were a good size, and there were onsens to enjoy. Breakfast was good too. I had a nice stay.

The room was spacious and clean, and the spring bath was amazing. Dinner was great, and the place was easy to get to. I had a memorable vacation here.
