Super Hotel Shin Yokohama

The rooms and toilets are tiny, but clean. I skip the in-room shower and use the onsen instead. See the photo to understand why. Breakfast has a small but balanced selection, and the internet is fast and reliable. In the evenings, they put different kinds of alcohol out in the dining room so you can make your own cocktails. You can also choose a pillow at the elevator lobbies. It’s an easy walk from Shin Yokohama station even with luggage, and the pedestrian bridge has lifts at both ends. Staff are polite and helpful. A nice place for a couple of nights to do laundry and see Yokohama, with good value for money.

The rooms are extremely small. We first got a room for three with one double bed and a single top bunk, leaving barely enough space for two people to walk around or pass each other. I couldn’t imagine three people managing it, so our third guest ended up getting a separate room. The woman at the desk was very kind and accommodating about the last-minute request. The only available room was for smokers, which we didn’t want, but she explained that they use an ozone machine to filter and clean the air. That helped a lot. There’s plenty to like too: the hotel is clean and quiet, just a five-minute walk from Shin Yokohama station and close to restaurants and convenience stores. Check-in was friendly and easy, wifi was good, and breakfast is included from 6:00-9:00 with a decent choice. There’s an onsen, and they brought fresh towels to our door even without housekeeping.

The hotel was great, with easy access to shinyokohama station and the ramen museum nearby. The onsen was nice, and breakfast was good, though it got a little crowded. The buffet ended at 9, which felt too early for me, but it did help me get up and do things in the morning. The first floor is just the elevator up, the second is for services, and the rest are guest rooms. That setup made coming and going easy, and I liked having the stairs around too. My room was fine, no issues, though nothing special. The neighborhood was my one complaint. It felt kind of unclean, with lots of parties and people trying to draw you into places, especially at night.

The free breakfast stood out from other Super locations, with more variety than I’ve seen elsewhere in the chain. The freshly made croissants were really, really yummy! As with practically every Super hotel, there are loads of amenities and the service is immaculate. It’s very close to Shin Yokohama Station. One of the overhead bridges connected to the station brings you just steps from the hotel, though there’s no elevator at that exit.
