The hotel is close to the downtown area, but the room conditions were awful. The Western-style rooms are old, and the Japanese-style ones were especially dirty and smelly, maybe because the tatami was rotting. The unit bathroom was grimy and disgusting, and even the futon cover seemed dirty. Cleaning was poor in both room types, and I felt itchy all over. They don't provide the complimentary day-trip hot spring tickets unless you ask. I said I hadn't received one or any explanation the previous time either, and was plainly told, "We don't give them out unless you ask." Breakfast arrived later than its scheduled start and felt very overpriced.

They gave us a ticket to Michinoku Onsen, and it turned out they also included a bath set for free. A nice bonus. I haven't tried breakfast yet, but so far I'd give the stay four stars.

The suite was roomy and lovely, with a reception room and separate bedroom, one entrance, two exits, and two toilets. Finding the light switches took me a while. It had the feel of a state guesthouse.

The low price and old-looking exterior photos made me a little uneasy when I booked, but for a room-only stay it was fine. It seems to be popular locally as a wedding banquet hall, and I was curious about the cakes in the restaurant. I'd stay again if I got the chance.

The facilities felt a bit old, and the parking lot was icy. It was nice, though, that they gave me a free ticket to Michinoku Onsen.
