N.33 Hakata Sta. River Side

I’ve stayed in more than 300 hotels around the world, and this was the worst one for me. My parents were exhausted after their flight, so we stayed instead of changing rooms or finding another hotel, but I don’t think it was fair to charge the full price. I asked them to refund at least 50%, and they refused. I think that’s ridiculous. The bed was broken, as shown in the pictures. My mom said it felt strange when she lay down. She weighs only about 50 kg, so there’s no way she broke it. We also found no chairs in the room, even though the Agoda pictures made it look as if there were some. I’ve never seen a hotel room without chairs. The check-in was a mess for my family. They arrived first and tried to use the reservation number I’d shared with them, but it kept failing. I called the hotel two or three times, and they kept telling me it should work if the number was entered correctly. I’ve lived in Japan for 20 years and spoke to them in Japanese, so this wasn’t a language issue. They didn’t take the problem seriously until I got angry. My parents entered the same number more than 50 times over an hour, then after my calls it finally worked. I still don’t understand why it happened. If you stay here, be prepared for an hour trying to check in, no chairs, and broken beds.

The room smelled as soon as I walked in. There was no staff for check-in or check-out, and you can’t leave your luggage after checking out, so you have to find a coin locker at Hakata Station. The washroom is tiny. The whole place feels old and bad for accommodation that costs too much.

These are basic rooms for travelers rather than a hotel, and the amenities are very simple. If all you need is an affordable place to sleep, it’ll do.

For such a low price, it’s very good. The doors use passcodes, so there are no keys to keep track of.
