Nishitetsu Hotel Croom Hakata Gion Kushida Shrine

Noise from upstairs and nearby rooms carried through, though it didn’t go on all night, so I could tolerate it. The hotel’s location was acceptable to me, but most hotels are clustered between Hakata and Tenjin, so the differences in location are generally small. We came as a family of three and booked two rooms, one Twin Japanese-style room and one Stay Type room with a washing machine. Both were fairly compact, but the space was used decently. My room had several maintenance and cleaning problems: dust and hair were visible on the ventilation filter, and the air conditioning vent looked moldy. The washer-dryer kept showing a U04 warning to clean the drying filter. I cleaned it and found a lot of lint, but the warning kept coming back, which made me think parts inside were clogged and not properly maintained. The stay was okay, but I’ll probably pick another hotel next time.

They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, and quickly sorted out a few problems we had. The staff were attentive, outgoing, and did more than expected to make our stay a good one. Thanks so much!

Everything was great apart from the other Korean guests constantly opening doors and talking loudly in the hallways at night.

The room was a spacious, modern one-bedroom apartment, with clean, high-tech amenities like a Chromecast-enabled TV, microwave, and washer-dryer. The hotel feels new and modern. The indoor and semi-outdoor public onsen were clean and modern, and you can have popsicles afterward. Staff were friendly and attentive. Kushida Station subway entrance is in front of the hotel, a one-station ride to Hakata Station, which is also a 13 min walk away. Kushida Shrine and Canal City Hakata are each a 3 min walk. This was the best hotel I stayed at on my Fukuoka trip. I recommend booking through the official website, since it may be cheaper than third-party sites such as Expedia. I got a deal on the one-bedroom apartment room for the same price as a double room with tatami area.
