The room was bigger than many in Japan, though still cramped for three of us, and the toilet was tiny. Even with the lower price compared with nearby hotels, it didn't feel worth it. My family agreed we should have stayed farther out or paid more for a newer place. The room has a worn, dated feel, like something from the 1980s that hasn't been updated. The bedside drawer didn't work, the lamp was broken, and there was dust in the corners, on the windows, and on the lamps. I didn't think it was especially dirty at first, but those dusty spots stood out. It felt more like a one-room hostel or backpacker place than a hotel in Japan. We told ourselves it would be fine as long as we only slept there, but it wasn't somewhere we wanted to spend time chatting or even boiling water for supper. I wouldn't stay again, and would look elsewhere unless a cheaper place in this area is the main priority.
There’s a Lawson and a 7/11 nearby, and the hotel is right beside the Fukuoka Castle Ruins area. It’s around a 20-30 minute walk to the city centre by the riverside, with Akasaka Metro close by. We stayed in a twin room in October 2023. It was a decent size by Japan hotel standards, and the mattress was quite soft. They don’t do daily housekeeping, but leave clean towels and robes outside the door. Good value for the money.
The room cleanliness was the reason I wouldn't stay here again. The entrance was clean, but the room was dusty, including the lamps, as if it hadn't been cleaned properly in a long time. I have asthma, so I was really disappointed they missed something so basic. It felt like sleeping in grandma's musty old guest room, closed up for years. The location is good, with a metro nearby. Breakfast came with the stay and was okay, nothing special. The beds were old but did the job.
Everything felt old, and I found one hair on the bed. The bathroom was very small, but that was okay for me. Housekeeping did try to keep the room tidy and clean. The hotel is by Exit 1 of Akasaka Station, with a Lawson convenience store and a park nearby. I chose it because the price was reasonable. Unfortunately, one of the front desk staff avoided speaking English.
Breakfast is very basic, with bread, croissants, boiled eggs, orange juice, milk, coffee, and tea. The in-room Wi-Fi was strong and steady, and the room was clean. The bathroom, though, is extremely small. Akasaka metro station is about a five-minute walk away.
