Quintessa Hotel Fukuoka Hakata Relax&Sleep

The service was excellent, and the location is just right. The room is small, but when you’re travelling, it’s mostly somewhere to sleep and do laundry, so you don’t need much space. Recommended.

Being so close to Hakata Station, with plenty of shops and restaurants around, was the best part of our stay. The room itself was cramped, with barely room for our bags despite having a large bed. It felt like it was meant for one person. The lighting was sparse and the room was very dim. I also found it strange that the sink was beside the desk instead of in the washroom. The washroom did have a Japanese toilet and a separate shower area. The bed was okay, though the pillows were softer than I like. We asked for another set and were told the attendants had finished for the day. Given the price, I expected better service and amenities.

The staff were friendly and clearly doing their best, but our stay at Quintessa Hotel Fukuoka was stressful. We were eventually moved to another room around 1 a.m. after hours of trying to explain the problem with gestures and translation apps. That room was even smaller than the one we had booked, which wasn’t large to begin with. The air conditioning barely cooled the room even at 19°C all day, and made a loud, irritating noise. With it off, the room became hot again within minutes, so we couldn’t get comfortable enough to sleep. The language barrier made it hard to get help. On arrival, we had also found visible stains on the mirrors and other surfaces, and the room didn’t feel freshly cleaned. The combination of poor cleanliness, faulty A/C, and communication difficulties made this a very disappointing stay. I wouldn’t recommend it unless those problems are addressed.

We had a good time staying here. It’s close to Hakata station, with a few places to eat nearby. The welcome drink was nice, and you can take some chocolate during your stay. Service was fine. The front desk staff don’t speak fluent English, but they were willing to help.
