Zonk Hotel Nakasu

During my two-week trip to Japan, this was the worst hotel I stayed in. The whole place felt run-down: the toilet controls, fan, bathroom light, and door stop were broken, the Dyson fan controls didn't work, and even the displayed record player was broken. The sofa was filthy, like it hadn't been cleaned in years. We were given just three blankets for a room meant for six, but they flatly refused when we asked for another. I've never had a hotel turn down such a basic request. There was no staff on site, so getting help meant messaging someone elsewhere. This place went against everything I associate with Japan, cleanliness, efficiency, and politeness. Avoid it. It even made me reconsider visiting Fukuoka, since there are plenty of other interesting places in Japan.

Check-in was easy enough for our four rooms. The hotel is unmanned, but they sent the details promptly. Getting around the building was less convenient: there's just one small lift, which fits at most five adults with luggage, and the wait can take a while. Our room was spacious, but very dusty. There were sweet wrappers from previous guests on the floor, dust on the kitchen table, ceiling lamp, and bedside area, and the mattress had so little support that I could feel the springs. The sheets were clean. They supplied slippers, a toothbrush, and shower gel, but no safe or drinking water. I expected better room standards in Japan, and the stay disappointed both me and my guests.

The room was huge, and the free drinks were nice, but there was no receptionist. The carpet was dirty and sometimes wet, and the equipment was old.

We took the family to Fukuoka for a few days and liked the location, near Nakasu river. It's a big hotel and cheap, and the room was okay. The bed springs were noticeable, though, and the pillows were too creepy. Still, at least for hotels near Nakasu river, this was the best one.
