Hotel Edel Warme

The buffet had a great view, and the food was actually nice. That was the one good part. The experience there was still frustrating because it closed at 9:30am sharp, with staff asking guests to leave exactly then. A last call at 9:30am and closing at 10:00am would be more reasonable and give people time to finish eating. It felt rushed and unwelcoming. The toilet was ridiculously small, barely leaving room to move, and the room felt cramped and uncomfortable for such an overpriced place. I also had to pay extra when my two kids joined at the last minute, even though I'd booked and paid for a 4-bed room. If the charge is based on guest numbers instead of beds, that should be made clear before booking. The pricing felt misleading and unreasonable. For what I paid, I expected better service, transparency, and comfort. This stay didn't meet my expectations.

The staff were kind and helpful. The onsen was clean, breakfast was great, and the shuttle was convenient. It's also a short walk to the slopes.

The public bath was a highlight, clean and relaxing after skiing. We had a comfortable Christmas stay at Edel Warme Hotel Furano and would happily come back. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the front desk staff were especially friendly and helpful. At check-in they explained the hotel services, facilities, and hours. The shuttle ran several times a day between the hotel and two ski areas. We just had to book ahead, and it left beside the dry room, which was handy in ski gear. Staff also went out of their way to book a snowmobile activity with a local agency for us. We booked breakfast and dinner. Breakfast had lots of Western and Japanese options. Dinner was a changing set menu that we enjoyed, though the portions might not be big enough for everyone. There was also a buffet with local wine, bread, and salads to fill up on. On Christmas Eve, dinner changed to a buffet with some really tasty choices.

The rooms and bathrooms seemed to have been renovated recently, which was a nice surprise in an otherwise old-school hotel. But the service didn't meet our expectations. Staff couldn't accommodate our needs, and every question got a short yes or no. We asked them to book us a taxi since there's only one taxi service in town, and you can't really book it yourself unless you speak Japanese. We were repeatedly told it would take 10-20 minutes, yet we saw other people book after us and get a taxi first. We felt cheated. It was far too expensive for the value, in our opinion. Next time we'll book somewhere else much further in advance.
