We had such a wonderful time staying with Jimmy and his wife and family that we'd return to Hokkaido just to come back. The meals were delicious, the house was spotless and full of charm, and the views from it were amazing. We also loved how soothing the onsen baths were. The family made us feel so welcome, and Jimmy speaks English very well, so we could ask him lots of questions about Hokkaido and Japan. Highly recommend!

Jimmy san and his wife were friendly, kind, and always ready to help, and we really enjoyed the meals. The rooms were warm and clean. They also offer free rides on arrival and departure, as well as free transport to Furano Snow Resort. A good place to stay for a holiday.

The place is quiet and feels like home, even though it's only about 10 minutes from the ski lifts and just outside town. Jimmy and his wife are so kind, and Jimmy is hilarious, pure entertainment. His wife cooks really well, so make sure to add breakfast. The pension was spotless, honestly up there with luxury hotels I've stayed in for work. The bathrooms were excellent and private when in use, even though shared, and the toilets were clean. We stayed in January 2025 to ski Furano and loved it. A car makes things easier, and these days we don't ski in Japan without one. We'd stay again. Thanks, Jimmy, hope to see you this season. Love from the 3 Aussies and Brazilian x

The mountain ranges and wine vineyards look beautiful from here, and there is a big yard where you can play in the snow. We visited in winter, and the host drove us to places. The owner serves exceptionally good, well-cooked food, with delicious dinner and breakfast courses on beautiful plates. The restrooms are spacious, and the bathrooms have a large tub for the whole family. Very hospitable host.

Jimmy and his wife are lovely and went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. The food was amazing and made with local produce. They were very accommodating. I highly recommend staying at Ashitaya!
