We stayed in a twin room for a ski holiday, and even with two single beds it felt comfortable. The room was small, but there was space for our luggage and all our gear, and my friend and I weren’t getting in each other’s way. There’s also lots of hanging space for ski clothes to dry after a day on the slopes. AK Star is a modern, clean, cosy little hotel with what you need. It’s in a handy spot in Furano, near the train station, bus stop, restaurants and tourist information centre. The showers have plenty of hot water and good pressure, and there’s a well-equipped kitchen and a laundry with a washing machine. There’s no clothes dryer, but we could hang wet laundry in the room during the day. Heating is centrally controlled, as is the dimmable lighting. There aren’t TVs in the rooms, but free Wi-Fi is fast enough to stream Netflix on your own device if you need a fix. For travellers on a budget who don’t want a hostel, dorm or capsule hotel, this was the best value we could find. The owner went out of his way to help with transfers to the slopes and gave us dining and local activity recommendations. Very highly recommended.
