Since there are no neighbors around, you can make as much noise as you want, which is fun. The building itself is pretty ordinary, and the fridge has condiments like yakiniku sauce left by previous guests, if you don’t mind using them. Every morning, wild monkeys that escaped from the monkey park surround the house (lol). They’re not used to people yet, so I don’t think they’re dangerous. Getting there is an adventure: the road is narrow, and if your car is large you have to stop and ride in the back of a pickup truck. It’s like an attraction in itself (lol). You can make all kinds of great memories.

The trip to the inn was an adventure in itself. We climbed a very narrow mountain road, which felt thrilling after years of mostly city driving. They lent us a kei car to keep our own car from getting dirty or scratched, which was a relief. The place is surrounded by nothing, with a lovely open feel, and having a BBQ without worrying about neighbors was great. There were lots of bugs, though, so long sleeves and pants are a must for barbecuing. The air conditioner worked well, and the guide was kind, so we left with good memories. But the inn wasn’t very clean. As other guests have said, there were lots of condiments left behind, dried-up shampoo, and other things that may have belonged to previous occupants. Cleanliness is why I’m giving it three stars.
