Gamagori Orange Pension

The entrance to the guesthouse took a little finding, but the sign helped. Inside, our family-trip room looked renovated and was clean, and the ocean and Laguna Gamagori views were beautiful. We had a shared bathroom, but still found the stay relaxing. The yuzu bath smelled lovely, and the staff were warm and polite.

We had the place to ourselves on a weekday, so it was peaceful, and the room was clean with a lovely view outside. The owner greeted us at the entrance when we arrived, took payment in advance, and kindly showed us to the room. After resting a bit, we were directed to the first-floor bath and used the one for five people. It was spacious, but bugs were floating in the water and ants were crawling around, which was really unacceptable. I felt bad bringing it up to the host. Otherwise, there were no problems, and I felt sorry for bothering the host because my child was so persistent.

The view from the room was nice, and the bed mattress was comfortable. Our third-floor room also had its own toilet and sink. The walls between rooms block voices, but you can hear people as soon as they're out in the corridor. The building has three floors and no elevator. There are two bathrooms downstairs, and on a busy day you may have to wait for one. From a third-floor room, going down repeatedly to check whether one is free is a hassle, so you may end up waiting in the lobby. The parking area is sloped, and there's an outdoor staircase at the entrance with a vending machine at the bottom. It's a family-run guesthouse, with a very homey feel. We paid at check-in because the next morning was expected to be hectic. The room had a toothbrush, but no hairbrush or dryer. You have to dry your hair in the bathroom, which is awkward when someone might be waiting. Wi-Fi was advertised as free, but the signal in our third-floor room was so weak it was nearly unusable. Guests who ordered breakfast gather in the first-floor dining room at 8 a.m. We could choose coffee, orange juice, apple juice, homemade plum juice, and other drinks. Breakfast was salad, fruit, scrambled eggs, one sausage, and fresh bread, for 1,080 yen per person.

The room was spotless, and the shared bathroom and toilet were both roomy and nice. The owners were a friendly, very kind couple. It's also quite close to Laguna Ten Bosch.
