Guesthouse Kiten - Hostel

The host was lovely, and I liked the relaxed common area and the free snacks. The guesthouse was well located for the insect museum, history museum, and garden I wanted to see, though it’s a 30-minute walk from the train station. Family mart is seven minutes away on foot. The beds were a little thin, and there was only one shower for everyone.

The guesthouse is close to the river, which would be lovely during sakura season. In winter there’s an illuminated walkway five minutes away, near the library, which also has a Starbucks and lawson. The owner was incredibly welcoming and offered to drive me to an appointment ten kilometers out of town the next day. Everything was really clean, and they were accommodating. Check the bus route, since you should be able to get here by bus from the station. I’d absolutely recommend it.

The guest house was nice, with a free light breakfast and laundry. The staff don’t speak much English, but enough to handle anything guesthouse-related. It’s quite a walk from JR station, about 30 minutes on foot. When I was there, it was really noisy. There’s no quiet-hours rule and the old house has thin doors, so people made noise until 3 or 4 am, and some did laundry late at night.

The owner was friendly, and the guesthouse was very clean. He and his family designed the whole interior themselves, even the kitchen lamps and beds. There weren’t many guests that day, so he had plenty of time to share travel tips with me. Thank you!
