The river view was amazing, and you can even spot Gifu castle up on the hills. The tatami room was spacious and a real experience, with a great, clean toilet. It felt like a proper Japanese stay. Everything was provided, and the onsen water was a comfortable temperature, not too hot. We also tried the mineral onsen.

The food was delicious, especially the traditional Japanese dishes and local specialties, including trout caught in the river. After sightseeing around Gifu Castle and other attractions nearby, coming back to such a peaceful place was lovely. The rooms were large, bright, spotless, and comfortable, with a nice touch of Japanese charm. Staff were friendly, professional, and helpful throughout my stay. A relaxing onsen getaway near Gifu Castle. I’ll definitely come back.

We only came for dinner, not an overnight stay. Our booked private room looked out over the river, where we could watch the traditional ukai, or cormorant fishing. The ten-course meal moved between warm and cold Japanese dishes, and the sweet fish was part of the mix. Our server talked us through the ingredients, their local background, and ukai. The place does feel a little dated and could use renovation.

I went for a relaxing birthday treat and paid 1000 yen to use the hotel's onsen, which is open to people who aren't staying there. Having the whole bath to myself was so nice. The staff were helpful and really kind, and the place is right by the river.
