Hotel Clad

The staff were friendly and very helpful, and the private onsen was easy to use, with a good range to choose from and beautiful views. We also found the laundry simple to use, and they stored our luggage for free. It was a great stay, even though the cloudy weather gave us only a brief, partly obscured look at Mount Fuji. Breakfast was included in our room, but we never tried it. We had dinner once and didn’t enjoy it, so we ate at the mall restaurants after that.

The breakfast buffet was amazing, even for a picky eater like me. Our room was quite spacious, with a shower but no tub, and there were little rooms where you could relax. The onsen itself was beautiful, though a bit hectic. Tattoos are allowed uncovered, which is a plus. The hotel is lovely and the view of Mt Fuji was beautiful, with the outlets right there. Beyond that, there isn’t much nearby, and transport was limited to a taxi or a bus from who knows where. It was expensive, but I’d still stay again.

You get a close view of magnificent Mount Fuji from Hotel Clad, and her beauty seems to follow you around the hotel every day. The Gotemba Outlet Mall is within walking distance. I loved the three-level onsen and its cold plunge, and the buffets worked well for picky eaters.

The rooms are comfortable and modern, and medium-sized by Japanese hotel standards. Mount Fuji looks spectacular from here. If you’re going to the Gotemba Outlet, it’s probably the best choice because there’s direct access to the outlet’s third-floor entrance. There’s a restaurant with a buffet, though the menu is fixed. We had a bad experience after checkout. We’d taken our luggage out before 3 PM, as agreed, and were waiting in the lobby for transport. It was raining hard and very windy, and there were eight of us in the group. At 3:30 PM, a staff member told everyone who had checked out, including us, to leave the lobby. We ended up outside with several bags in the wind and heavy rain. I’ve traveled all over the world and never experienced anything like that.
