Hotel KAN-RAKU Fujisan Gotemba

The counter staff were kind and helped us send our luggage to the airport. There’s a Uniqlo shop and aeon across from the hotel. The room was small and had a bad smell, like a typical business hotel, and I was disappointed by breakfast.

We had to get rid of damaged luggage during our trip, but the counter staff kept saying the hotel policy wouldn’t let them help, even when I offered to pay the disposal fee. They said disposal was only available to Japanese residents, and couldn’t assist even after I offered to take the luggage to the collection centre. No one suggested another way to handle it. We ended up hauling the damaged luggage to our next hotel. I can’t recommend this hotel to foreign tourists. There was no service or initiative at all.

The curtains had mould and the room smelled awful. Service was below average too. This was my second stay, but I’ll probably book somewhere else next time.

I’ve lived in Japan for 14 years, and this place left me disappointed. The hotel itself looks lavish, but the rooms are ordinary old business hotel rooms with tiny bathrooms. Breakfast is what I really came to complain about. It was the worst hotel buffet I’ve had in my life. The whole first floor smelled like one of the fish dishes, and there were hardly any choices. In my photos, the only things that looked really edible were some chicken and packaged Curry with rice. I love Japanese food, but there was no tofu, raw egg option for rice, or pickles to add to it. I tried the eggs because I was curious why they looked like soup, and wondered if it had something to do with the four cherry tomatoes split across one chafing pan. They were just slimy, uncooked eggs. I’m embarrassed to say I got sick afterward. The location might work if you have a car or want to visit the Super Onsen nearby called Oasis. I’d avoid the breakfast at all costs.
