Really friendly place and good value. There's a shared kitchen and common room, plus a small, welcoming bar in the evenings. The owner was incredibly kind, helpful, and generous.

We had a great time here as a family of five. They suggested we book the whole room, and having the space to ourselves made it easy to relax. The kids loved getting to sleep in bunk beds for the first time. The shared area, toilets, and showers were all clean. Being able to use the washing machine for 100 yen was especially handy in the hot weather, and there were hangers and other things in the room for drying clothes. The guy at the inn was pleasant and easy to deal with. We also stopped by the bar attached to the inn. It's run by someone who moved to the Goto Islands, and he gave us useful recommendations. We'd definitely stay here again if we return to the Goto Islands. Thank you!

This was my first overnight stay on Fukue Island, after several day trips. I'd heard that outside Samurai Residence Street, the island can feel paved over and not much like a remote island, and many visitors are disappointed walking around. I felt that way too. On the plus side, the owner will drive guests to the terminal on rainy days or other special occasions. There were several cleanliness and safety problems. The women's dorm windows were unlocked and easy to reach from outside, so I locked them myself. The window ledge had a huge amount of dust, as if it hadn't been cleaned for months, and a few centimeters of something that might have been food, perhaps pickled plums, or a living thing. It was very unsanitary. Staff cleaned it the next day. The free rice had fish scales in it for some reason. I figured that was down to the residents, and considered buying rice at a supermarket for around 100 yen instead. The internet was weak. I suspect it wasn't fiber, since after one night only 20 photos had uploaded from my iPhone to iCloud. I used the free Wi-Fi at the local library instead, though its hours are shorter than a regular library, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. At 6 AM, I was woken by neighbors chatting for over half an hour. To be clear, they weren't being a nuisance. Someone else parked on the street by the guesthouse at 6 AM with the engine running to read manga. I told them it was noisy and asked them to move somewhere else, and they did. I photographed their license plate and saved it. A load in the washing machine costs 100 yen. I washed clothes at 9 PM in spring and hung them up for about six hours. Even with the room air conditioner at full power, two of us could barely feel any air coming from it. As a workaround, I used a hair dryer, then dried the laundry at my next accommodation or in my car after checkout. In summer it might dry by checkout time.
