Minsyuku Funamisou

I was here for several nights for work. The location was good, and the room was decent, but I found the bathroom disappointing. It felt like a pool shower. There was no boiler, so the bath water was lukewarm, and I was told there'd be no hot water after 10pm. The room was cleaned daily. The owner was unfriendly, though the landlady was very kind. Bath towels are available to rent for an extra 100 yen.

The meals were delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They did their best to look after me despite the language barrier. This guesthouse matched what I expected from traditional accommodation on Hachijojima. Showers and the bathroom were available during the designated evening hours.

Rain left us with nothing to do, so we paid to use the indoor court and had a great time playing futsal. It was covered in artificial turf and looked beautiful. Even in summer, the large electric fan kept it comfortable. They also kindly gave us more puddings than there were people in our group. I wasn't the one who received them, so I couldn't thank them directly, but thank you so much!

Dinner and breakfast were included for my one-night stay, and I was able to leave my luggage around 9:30, even though check-in was already early at 10:00. The baths are separate for men and women and can be locked, so I could take my time warming up. The rice was especially good, and the meals included lots of local ingredients. I liked the angelica tree, too. You can have as much white rice as you like, and they thoughtfully made miso soup when I arrived. It was a relaxing stay.
