We booked two nights but left after just one. I gave it two stars, both for the polite staff, and none for the hotel itself. The building is unbelievably old and cleanliness was below average. When we got into the room, the toilet bin still had rubbish from the previous guests. We told reception, and they responded appropriately, apologized, and cleaned it right after I reported it. The place feels old-fashioned and poorly maintained: dirty carpet, a cracked bathroom basin, and a smelly bath curtain, among other things. The door and walls don’t block sound, so we could clearly hear other guests talking in the corridor and their rooms. The staff were absolutely friendly and polite, and if management sees this, please don’t blame them. The main problem is the poor upkeep, along with a location that’s not very convenient, far from the city center and main station. Trains to the nearest main station run only once an hour. I understand this local hotel may not mainly target foreign tourists, but it really needs renovation, and management needs to improve cleaning standards and quality.

We left after the bed in the second room had another hair on it. First, our bed linen was dirty, with what I’ll politely call human chocolate on the covers. Management moved us to another room, where there was no human chocolate, but a curly pubic hair. We reported it, and they asked if they could clean while we went to dinner. We said yes. When we came back, the pubic hair was gone, but a long hair had taken its place. We asked management if they knew about the bed bug plague across Japan at the moment. They said of course they did. From our experience, they seemed not to care about that, basic hygiene, or their customers. The suite they transferred us to looked like it was from around 1980, with filthy beds, old carpet, peeling wallpaper, and tiny bathrooms with cracked basins that even the smallest person would struggle with. The whole building felt like a shack, and how it gets four stars is a mystery. One positive: management refunded us and gave us fresh fruit. I wouldn’t stay here again even if it were free.

We booked three nights, but after one we checked out and stayed elsewhere. The whole floor smelled of smoke, and the room was dirty, with a handprint on the wall, broken light fixtures, carpet stains, and paper-thin walls. The hotel was so gross. They refused to refund us for the remaining nights.

The upper-floor restaurant has a beautiful city view, but the boulliabase was really not good. The hotel itself was nice, and the staff were incredibly polite and friendly. I did think it was severely overpriced.

It was nice to have a meal provided after the meeting, and they accommodated us even though we had a child with us.
