Yuki-san made us feel welcome, and the coffee was great. We enjoyed the distinctive decor, cozy tatami room, and shared areas where we could either spend time with others or have some space to ourselves. The kitchen, showers, and toilets were very clean. Getting here with our luggage was easy: the bus station is nearby, and Hagashi Hagi Train Station is a short cab ride away. Breakfast was simple but tasty. There are a few restaurants close by, plus a lovely traditional sweet shop on the corner along the walk to the bus station. A lovely spot to unwind while exploring the area.

I ended up extending my stay, which says a lot. The communal spaces were great for hanging out, and the beds were comfortable. The staff, especially Aki san, Sho san and Shio san, were fun, helpful, respectful, and welcoming. It felt like they became friends. The hostel is beautifully designed, and staying here was one of my best experiences in Japan.

There was an art exhibition in the lobby while I was there, which gave the place an artsy feel. The decor was nice, and the staff were friendly. It was clean, too. There’s only one toilet, though, and the wooden floors and walls make quite a bit of noise.

The staff made me feel very welcome, and they served a lovely light breakfast using local ingredients. I had a great time here for a few nights. Such a lovely hostel, I’ll definitely come back.
