We visited in winter. The rooms had heating, though the shared areas were pretty cold. The place is cozy, clean, quiet, and affordable. The twin rooms with bunk beds work well if you’re traveling with a friend or relative: you can avoid sharing a bed while still keeping the price down.

The homey feel made me feel like I was visiting distant relatives. The host is warm, helpful, very sociable, and speaks fluent English. He really wants you to have a memorable time in Hakodate. I’d recommend it to solo travelers too. Thank you。

I was there for a few days, and the place was clean. The owner is lovely and happy to answer questions about the city and places to visit. His English is excellent, and you can borrow a bike for free. Random detail: he loves surfing. ☺️

Tako San is a friendly, helpful owner, and the place is small but cozy, practical, and affordable for a stay while exploring. Lawson(24hr is right next door. A taxi from the airport to the place costs 3100yen. If you have more than two bags, I'd choose the ground floor to make coming and going easier. There’s hot coffee, wifi, a heater, clean rooms, and a hot shower. Enjoy yr stay.

It’s a tiny, cozy place, but there was quite a lot of noise from other guests, and people were smoking indoors, which was a shame.
