Ajisai Onsen Ryokan Hotel

The onsens were excellent and really relaxing. The private ones seem especially nice for couples. It felt like a proper break from the hectic big cities like Tokyo. Our room was spacious and very clean, and the staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. They served dinner and breakfast in our room, explaining each dish as they brought it. I wasn’t familiar with some of the food, so that was a nice touch, and everything was delicious.

We chose the half-board option, and it was well worth it. We got to sample lots of Japanese dishes, including wagyu beef, sashimi, and homemade ice cream. The staff at Ajisai ryokan were accommodating from the start, helping us bring our luggage to the room and showing us around. We had a great stay and would come back on our next trip to Hakone.

The food was really good and filling, and the onsens were lovely and private. You do need to reserve one in advance, but with relatively few rooms per onsen, it was never a problem for us. Our room was big and comfortable. The place sits up a steep hill from Gora station, though a taxi ride takes just 3 minutes and costs 600 yen.

The kaiseki dinner was delicious, and I’d recommend adding it to your stay. We spent 2 nights at Ajisai Onsen with family and had a wonderful time. The private onsen was a great part of the experience. The baths were clean and had all the toiletries we needed. A good choice for a family getaway, though I’d suggest taking a taxi because the location is uphill.
